What ChirpScout does
ChirpScout helps birders decide when and where to go birding. It combines hourly weather data, long-term habitat and species data from eBird and other citizen-science sources, and results from an independent multi-year field study to score nearby birding hotspots. There is no messaging, posting, commenting, or any other feature that allows users to publish content to other users or the public.

Protections for younger users
- No open-ended communication: ChirpScout has no chat, messaging, comments, or public profiles — there is no way for one user to contact or view content from another.
- No advertising: the app contains no ad SDKs and shows no third-party ads, so there is no ad-targeting exposure for younger users.
- No purchases: ChirpScout has no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or real-money mechanics of any kind.
- No unrestricted web browsing: the app does not embed an open web browser or link out to arbitrary, unmoderated third-party content.
- Minimum age and parental consent: our Terms of Service, presented and accepted during in-app sign-up, set a minimum age of 13, and require parental or guardian consent and supervision for users under 18.
- Minimal data collection: as described in our Privacy Policy, ChirpScout collects only what's needed to power hotspot search and scoring (optional location, basic account info, and preferences) and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Recommended rating
Based on the above, ChirpScout is suitable for a 4+ age rating under Apple's guidelines — the app contains no objectionable content in any category and includes no social, advertising, or purchase features that would warrant a higher rating.
